This page covers the Gio classic bedroom, which paired an upholstered bed with a chest, a chair and a mirror, and the pieces by Francesco Pasi that fill the same roles today. Each one is described by how it is built, so you can compare like for like before you ask for a quote.
What made up the Gio bedroom?
Gio was a classic set built around an upholstered bed in natural wood and fine fabric. A three-drawer chest, an upholstered chair and a mirror completed the room. Most of the detail sat on the case pieces, whose drawer fronts were painted and carved by hand.
Which bed replaces the Gio upholstered bed?
The Opera Carved Bed with Capitonne Headboard by Francesco Pasi is the closest match. Its carved frame holds a capitonné panel in leather or fabric, and the 180x200 cm version measures H 158 x W 212 x D 218 cm.
The orthopaedic slatted base is sold separately. Further beds and sets are on our luxury master bedroom furniture page.
How do you match the chest and nightstand?
Pick storage that either repeats the bed's carving or contrasts with it. The Gran Guardia Chest of Drawers 2050 by Francesco Pasi repeats it, with carving made entirely by hand in solid cherry and gold or silver leaf applied by hand.
For a lighter bedside, the New Deco Open Nightstand, also by Francesco Pasi, has 60 mm solid cherry uprights and an 8 mm Tanganyika walnut plywood back. Keep the leaf colour the same on every piece that carries it. For rooms beyond the bedroom, browse our premium furniture.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the slatted base included with the Opera bed?
No. The orthopaedic slatted base for the Opera Carved Bed with Capitonne Headboard is sold separately.
Can the headboard be upholstered in fabric instead of leather?
Yes. The capitonné headboard panel is offered in leather or in fabric, set inside a carved frame.
Do the chest and nightstand need to come from the same collection?
No. Gran Guardia and New Deco can share a room if the finishes relate, for example Gran Guardia white lacquer with silver patina beside New Deco white lacquer.
