What made the Gisel bedroom work

Gisel balanced natural wood with fine fabrics, so the room felt soft rather than heavy. The set ran from the bed to an upholstered stool and bench, a mirror and floor and table lamps. Its chests carried hand painting on the drawers and hand-carved detail.

Recreating it with current pieces

A carved bed with a padded headboard brings back the same mix of wood and fabric.
